Referred to “Snub-dodecahedron” i.e. polyhedron with 12 pentagonal
and 80 triangular faces, which is one of the “Semi-regular polyhedrons” (/Archimedean
solids). Interestingly, if we look through the opened pentagonal part of this,
the opposite pentagonal face could be seen tilted.
Special part
In the process of designing these
paper pieces, the proportion of one pentagonal face and the whole sphere reminded
me of the particular movie character, which you may know as well.
Cut B4-size sheets of paper with “Sheet 01” pattern three times and with “Sheet
02” once, then get 11 pentagonal “A” pieces, 80 triangular “B” pieces, and
a set of 5 isosceles triangular “C” pieces. B4画用紙で「Sheet 01」を3回、「Sheet
02」を1回カットして、正五角形ピース「A」を11個、正三角形ピース「B」を80個、および二等辺三角形ピース「C」の5個1セットを取り出す。
"Beam" 「ビーム」
The pentagonal dish part can be made compatible with/without “Beam” expression. And the "Beam" bars could be made by
splitting a fluorescent acrylic sheet thinly.

Cut out all the paper pieces. * Cutting plotter has
been fully used nowadays. すべての紙ピースを切り抜く。*最近はペーパーカッティングマシンを駆使している。

Fold up the gluing area along the semi-cut line. 糊代を半切りした線で折り返しておく。

Glue the pieces together to build a sphere. ピースを貼り合わせて球状に組み上げる。

This time, leave the last pentagonal part open. 今回、最後の正五角形部分を開けておく。

One set of dishes with “Beams” and
without would be prepared compatible. ビーム有り無し一組のディッシュを交換可能なように用意する。
Tips ヒント
The gluing area of the opened pentagonal part of the sphere should be weak sticky. Some removable type of adhesive or temporary sticking tape may be used. 球の正五角形開口部の糊代は貼り換え可能に弱粘着性にしないといけないので、貼り換え可能な粘着剤(例えば、PiT MULTI2)または仮止めテープを使う。

Assemble the miniature LED
lamp and other necessary components being storable in the sphere, which should light
behind the “Beamed” dish when closed.
