          Making

          • Nangsey Lhamo's name
Class VI is where Nangsey Lhamo is enrolled.
She is a quiet, gentle child who loves to learn and hang out with her pals. She suffers from Diplegic Cerebral Palsy (CP), which impairs her brain's capacity to regulate movement, coordination, and fine motor abilities.

            • She depends on her parents or friends to get around outside and utilises a wheelchair in class. Her minor fine motor issues have a slight impact on writing and handling objects, but she has severe gross motor difficulty. She also needs her mother's help using the loo.
          • Because of her diplegic cerebral palsy, Nangsey Lhamo has trouble with fine motor abilities, which makes writing and digital chores difficult. Creating assistive technology that increases her independence in these areas is our aim.
            • Nangsey is a passionate and driven person who doesn't let cerebral palsy define who she is. She manages her everyday life with fortitude in spite of the difficulties that impact her coordination and mobility.
            • She exhibits her flexibility and desire to learn by attending normal classes with little to no modification. She thinks that the event's assisting technologies will enable her to pursue one of her greatest goals: writing on her own.
            • Her determination and positivity are the epitome of perseverance, demonstrating that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to given the correct encouragement. Both Nangsey's mother and SEN teacher sincerely hope that she would become more independent in her day-to-day activities.
            • They see a time when she will be able to write her examinations without the assistance of a scribe, use phones and tablets with ease, and type comfortably on her computer. Writing in particular is a major area of concentration, both to improve her academic experience and to build her strength.
            • Her mother claims that frequent hand exercises have helped Nangsey's hand strength over time, and they think that with the correct assistive equipment, she will continue to advance and become more independent. • Our desire for Nangsey to be strong, brave, independent, and morally upright, like the renowned female Valkyrie warriors, is the reason we called ourselves Team Valkyrie. Our goal is to support her in overcoming obstacles and realising her greatest potential.
          • We aim to create an assistive tool to enhance Nangsey Lhamo’s independence in writing and digital interaction. Along with a physical device, we’re developing a speech-to-text converter for easier communication. By integrating adaptive design, we empower her with greater control in daily life.
            • We're also developing a speech-to-text converter that will help Nangsey communicate more easily and be more accessible by allowing her to dictate text. This collection of assistive technology aims to provide her greater freedom and command over her daily routine. Try the prototype app using QR
          • A thorough conversation about what to make, with an emphasis on Nangsey's needs and how we could best promote her freedom, kicked off our initial prototyping phase. We discussed potential solutions, drew preliminary designs, and evaluated the viability of various assistive technology.
            • We 3D-printed a basic design and tested it in actual environment. This practical experiment yielded good information that pointed out areas that needed work. This initial phase established a solid basis for a more efficient and user-friendly assistive tool, even though improvements were required.
          • Based on preliminary testing, we improved the design in the second phase, concentrating on usability and functionality to better suit Nangsey's requirements. We are now closer to a workable, efficient solution thanks to the important insights this phase offered.
            • We concentrated on completing the tool's components, making sure that each one improved usability. These modifications assisted in transforming the gadget into a useful instrument that promotes Nangsey's autonomy.
          • Our project seeks to improve Nangsey’s motor skills, particularly in writing, and help her compete with her peers in learning. With further research and funding, we aim to refine assistive tools like the speech-to-text converter, enhancing her independence and accessibility.
            • By strengthening her hand control, Nangsey will be able to write more naturally and independently with the aid of assistive technology. These instruments can help her become more coordinated and dexterous with frequent use. She will be able to do schoolwork more quickly as a result.
            • We aim to develop a system that recognizes Nangsey’s voice and suggests words for clarity. This would help her select the right words, ensuring smoother communication during exams. With further development, this tool could greatly enhance her independence.
            • She will be able to engage more in class thanks to these assistive technologies, which will lessen her dependency on others. She will be able to finish assignments at her own pace and have more control over her educational journey. She will be able to interact with her peers more fairly as a result.
            • We hope to improve these options for Nangsey's independence with more time and support. Comfort, robustness, and skill development for her daily life and schooling will be the main areas of improvement.
